In South Korea the prospect of a rapidly aging society implies that, among thediverse needs of welfare and housing, interest in the housing problems of the woman's elderly is particularly high. The purpose of thisstudy is to investigate the preferred living environment by the married female workers after retirement. The data were collected frominterviews and questionnaire of 30 persons selected from the married female workers in Busan. The results are summarized as follows:(1) About half of them are going to work after retirement. it was correlated with factors such as occupational description, individual volitionto work, and years of continued service.(2) As for their residence, the residence of a proper scale was required with space convenient forcleaning, meal preparation, etc. rather than large scale of it. Moreover, the conditions of living environment for them, the distance andthe time required from a place of residence to a workplace were important.(3) They liked to more apartment than independent houseas a residence after retirement, even if they have had experience at the independent house in the childhood. The housing purchaseafter retirement was influenced by academic background and income.(4) The preferred living style after retirement was toshare the common space with other residents who have the same way of organizing a dwelling, but they desired to keep a private life.
