    This article presents a load-independent zero-current switching (ZCS) parallel-resonant inverter with a constant output current. The proposed inverter features constant-current output inherently without the need for any control method. Moreover, ZCS is achieved despite load variations, ensuring high power efficiency even at MHz-order switching frequencies. We conduct a comprehensive circuit analysis of the proposed inverter and provide a step-by-step parameter design method for achieving load-independent conditions. Additionally, a 25 W, 1 MHz prototype of the proposed inverter was implemented. In the circuit experiment, constant current output and ZCS were achieved across the entire range of load variations, which demonstrated the effectiveness of the proposed load-independent inverter.

    Synchronisability of limit cycle oscillators has been measured by the width of the synchronous frequency band, known as the Arnold tongue, concerning external forcing. We clarify a fundamental limit on maximizing this synchronisability within a specified extra low power budget, which underlies an important and ubiquitous problem in nonlinear science related to an efficient synchronisation of weakly forced nonlinear oscillators. In this letter, injection-locked Class-E oscillators are considered as a practical case study, and we systematically analyse their power consumption; our observations demonstrate the independence of power consumption in the oscillator from power consumption in the injection circuit and verify the dependency of power consumption in the oscillator solely on its oscillation frequency. These systematic observations, followed by the mathematical optimisation establish the existence of a fundamental limit on synchronisability, validated through systematic circuit simulations. The results offer insights into the energetics of synchronisation for a specific class of injection-locked oscillators.

    The fusion of IoT and Blockchain (i.e., IoT-Blockchain) promisingly revolutionizes numerous domains. However, IoT-Blockchain systems may face scalability challenges due to a large number of IoT devices and blockchain performance. Sharding, which divides the blockchain into smaller groups, offers a solution to enhance blockchain scalability. However, most previous sharding research typically considers even node distribution in a shard (i.e., a fixed node number). Hence, it may not capture the characteristics of IoT- Blockchain systems well, where nodes are diversely distributed. This paper investigates a new scenario of shards having unevenly distributed nodes, aiming to see the impacts of the scenario on sharding protocols. More specifically, we evaluate the BrokerChain protocol on the sharding-based emulation platform (i.e., BlockEmulator) in scenarios with even and uneven node distributions. The results show that the protocol performance degrades with the uneven node distribution, suggesting the need for a dynamic sharding protocol.

    Blockchain holds significant potential in addressing the security, privacy, decentralization, and interoperability challenges prevalent in the Internet of Things (IoT), However, this advancement often comes at the expense of scalability. Therefore, enhancing the scalability of IoT blockchain systems while preserving other essential blockchain attributes is imperative. This paper aims to mitigate network latency in the blockchain network, a factor directly linked to blockchain scalability. Achieving this goal requires implementing an efficient peer selection method, moving beyond the reliance on default selection (i.e., the one in Bitcoin, Ethereum, etc.). In existing literature, Perigee has been introduced as a method that nearly optimizes the delay in the transaction transmission process. However, Perigee has not comprehensively addressed the complete transaction life cycle, which includes a crucial process-block transmission. In response to this limitation, we propose Dual Perigee, a solution that thoroughly considers and optimizes both transaction-oriented latency (TOL) and block-oriented latency (BOL). To show the effectiveness of Dual Perigee, we implemented and evaluated it within an emulated IoT-Blockchain system, comparing its performance with Perigee and the default peering method in Ethereum. The results reveal that Dual Perigee excels in reducing BOL compared to Perigee. Moreover, Dual Perigee exhibited a latency that was 43% and 80% lower than the default peering method and Perigee, respectively.

    This paper presents steady-state analytical expressions of the class-D zero-voltage switching inverter at any duty ratio along with a design example. The obtained expressions include stead-state voltage and current waveforms, output power capability, peak switch voltage, peak switch current, output power, and power conversion efficiency as functions of the duty ratio. Additionally, switching-timing allowance due to antiparallel diodes of switching devices can be predicted from the analytical results. The analytical expressions are verified by showing quantitative agreements with PSpice simulations and circuit experiments.

    © 2016 Chinese Institute of Electronics. An orthogonal-gradient measurement matrix construction algorithm is proposed for reducing the maximum and average mutual-coherence of sensing matrix. It shrinks Gram matrix based on equiangular tight frame theory. An orthogonal-gradient factor matrix is deduced. It obtains an optimized measurement matrix with the orthogonal-gradient factor matrix. The results of experiments show that the proposed algorithm effectively reduces the maximum and average mutual-coherence of sensing matrix. This leads to a better reconstruction performance for signals with different sparsities compared with Gaussian matrix, Elad's, Xu's, Vahid's and Li's methods.

    © 2016 Zhipeng Tang et al. VCC is a computing paradigm which consists of vehicles cooperating with each other to realize a lot of practical applications, such as delivering packages. Security cooperation is a fundamental research topic in Vehicular Cloud Computing (VCC). Because of the existence of malicious vehicles, the security cooperation has become a challenging issue in VCC. In this paper, a trust-based model for security cooperating, named DBTEC, is proposed to promote vehicles' security cooperation in VCC. DBTEC combines the indirect trust estimation in Public board and the direct trust estimation in Private board to compute the trust value of vehicles when choosing cooperative partners; a trustworthy cooperation path generating scheme is proposed to ensure the safety of cooperation and increase the cooperation completion rates in VCC. Extensive experiments show that our scheme improves the overall cooperation completion rates by 67%.

    © 2016 IEEE. It is desirable for alarm packets to be forwarded to the sink as quickly as possible in wireless sensor networks. In this paper, we initially analyze the theory of the relationships between network configurations and network lifetime as well as transmission delay. Then, we propose an approximate optimization approach to minimize the end-to-end delay with a reduced complexity of configuration under the condition that the network lifetime remains greater than the specified target value. A local forwarding approach named Fast data collection for nodes Far away from the sink and slow data collection for nodes Close to the Sink (FFSC) is proposed. This approach is energy efficient. Moreover, it can further reduce the end-to-end delay. Both the comprehensive theoretical analysis and the experimental results indicate that the performance of FFSC is better than the methods proposed by previous studies. Relative to the direct forwarding strategy, the FFSC approach can reduce the delay by 7.56%-23.16% and increase the lifetime by more than 25%. It can also increase the energy efficiency as much as 18.99%. Relative to the single fixed threshold strategy, the FFSC approach can reduce the delay by 4.16%-9.79% and increase the energy efficiency by 19.28% while still guaranteeing the same lifetime as those previous methods.

In this study, design theory and analysis for the class E power amplifier (PA), considering the metal oxide semiconductor field effect transistor (MOSFET) parasitic input and output capacitances, are proposed. The input resistance and capacitances cause non-ideal input voltage at gate terminal, which affect the specifications of the class E PA. In the proposed study, non-linear drain-to-source, linear gate-to-drain and linear gate-to-source MOSFET parasitic capacitances are considered, while zero voltage and zero derivative switching conditions are achieved. Moreover, the input resistance and the value of the input voltage are taken into account in the design theory. According to the obtained results, the duty cycle of the MOSFET depends on the MOSFET threshold voltage, input voltage, input series resistance, and some other parameters, which will be explained in this study. A design example is finally given to describe the design procedure at 1 MHz operating frequency along with the experimental result. The circuit simulation is also performed using PSpice software. The measured results showed quantitative agreements with simulation and theory results.

    © 2016 The Institute of Electronics, Information and Communication Engineers. This paper presents a Multi-channel MAC protocol wit channel grouping for multi-channel ad-hoc networks. The proposed pro tocol has both concepts of the multiple rendezvous and the single contro channel protocols, which were proposed as a MAC protocol for multi channel ad-hoc network without centralized stations. In the proposed pro tocol, all the channels are divided into some groups and each group has control channel. Network nodes circulate among the groups and channe negotiations are carried out on a control channel of the group. By applyin the channel grouping, it is possible to enhance network throughput withou reducing the channel-usage probability. Because there is an optimum grou number for obtaining the highest throughput, this paper gives analytica expressions of maximum network throughput for the proposed protocol as function of system parameters. The effectiveness of the proposed protoco is shown from simulation results. In addition, the validity of the analytica expressions is confirmed from quantitative agreements between analytica predictions and simulation results.

    In this paper, power-flow calculation simulator with its visualization function is proposed and implemented. Generally, it is necessary to prepare a text file, which describes bus systems with generators and loads, which is one of the barriers for power-flow simulation. The proposed simulator has a function of automatic generations of IEEE common data format file from user-drawn power-system diagram. Therefore, it is possible for users to make a simulation only by drawing power systems on display. In addition, the proposed simulator also has a function that power-system diagram is illustrated automatically from IEEE common data format file. By using this function, it is possible to visualize power flow amount and direction on the bus-system diagram, which helps for users to comprehend network dynamics intuitively. Because the proposed simulator allows including renewable-resource generators in the bus system, it is useful to evaluate the power distribution systems. It is shown that the proposed simulator can make accurate IEEE common data format file and intuitive power-flow illustration.

    This paper presents a novel circuit topology of the class-E rectifier by introducing the concept of the class-F rectifier into the basic class-E rectifier. In the proposed class-E rectifier, a harmonic component is added to the switching device of the basic class-E rectifier. Therefore, the proposed class-E rectifier possesses the strengths of both the class-F. and -F rectifiers, enabling simple configuration, low peak switch voltage, and high efficiency. A design example is given along with the PSpice-simulation waveforms. The switch voltage and current waveforms from the PSpice simulation satisfy the zero-voltage and zero-current. soft switching conditions, namely, the switch voltage and current. reach zero in the turn off and on instants, respectively. Therefore, the proposed class-E rectifier can achieve high power-conversion efficiency at high frequencies. Additionally, the peak switch voltage is reduced significantly compared with the basic class-E rectifier but the circuit configuration is as simple as the basic class-F. rectifier. It is seen from the PSpise-simulation results that the numerical calculations agreed with the simulated ones quantitatively, which validated the accuracy and effectiveness of the proposed rectifier.

    © 2017 Elsevier B.V. Cyber-Physical Cloud System is emerging as a promising system that enables a wide range of applications. In many applications, smart grids, sensing operations generate large amount of data. In order to effectively and efficiently collect large amount of data, a Global view of Context-aware Sensing and Collection (GCSC) scheme is proposed for exploiting both local and global of spatial-temporal correlations to perform data collection in cyber-physical cloud system (CPC system). In a GCSC scheme, the size of the representative region varies according to the residual energy of its smart sensor nodes. For areas far from the sink decrease the size of the representative region to keep high accuracy in the collected data, while areas near the Sink increase the size of the representative region to lower energy consumption to ensure efficient energy management. Thus, the accuracy of sensing data and lifetime can be enhanced at same time. Both theoretical analysis and experimental results indicate that the performance of GCSC scheme is better than the performance in previous studies. Compared with previous schemes, GCSC scheme can improve the data accuracy by 7.56%∼23.16% and increase the network lifetime by more than 11%, also increase energy efficiency as much as 12.39%.

This paper presents a design procedure of high-frequency loosely inductive coupled wireless power transfer (LIC-WPT) system based on class-E2 DC-DC converter, taking into account the power loss reduction of inverter, coupling part, and rectifier simultaneously. Analytical expressions including the dc-to-dc efficiency of the WPT system are derived and the efficiency deterioration mechanism is explained by the circuit model. Through the analytical expressions, the design procedure for satisfying both the class-E switching conditions and power loss reductions at the coupling part is proposed from the circuit-theory viewpoint. The class-E2 WPT system designed by the proposed design procedure achieves high dc-to-dc efficiency at low coupling coefficient, in particular, compared with those designed by the previous design strategies. The validity and effectiveness of the proposed design procedure were confirmed by PSpice simulations and circuit experiments.

    This paper presents a design methodology of switching power converters with visualizations of converter characteristics on a system-parameter space. The computation techniques of the bifurcation parameter derivations are used for the characteristics visualizations directly. This paper shows a design of the resonant converter with the class-D zero-voltage-switching (ZVS) inverter as a design example. By drawing the ZVS region and the output-power contour map on the two-dimensional system parameter space, it is possible to obtain the component values that satisfy the ZVS condition at any phase shift. The validity and effectiveness of the proposed design strategy was confirmed by showing the quantitative agreements between PSpice-simulation and experimental results.

    This paper presents a RIC-WPT system with class-E inverter and class-DE rectifier along with its analytical design procedure. By using the class-E inverter as a transmitter and the class-DE rectifier as a receiver, the designed WPT system can achieve a high power-delivery efficiency because of the class-E ZVS/ZDS conditions in both the inverter and the rectifier. In the experimental results, the system achieved 73.0 % overall efficiency at 9.87 W (50μ) output power, coil distance 10 cm, and 1 MHz operating frequency. The experimental results showed good agreement with the design specifications, which indicates the validity of the design procedure.

String-topology multi-hop network is often selected as an analysis object because it is one of the fundamental network topologies. The purpose of this paper is to establish expression for end-to-end delay for IEEE 802.11 string-topology multi-hop networks. For obtaining the analytical expression, the effects of frame collisions and carrier-sensing effect from other nodes under the non-saturated condition are obtained for each node in the network. For expressing the properties in non-saturated condition, a new parameter, which is frame-existence probability, is defined. The end-to-end delay of a string-topology multi-hop network can be derived as the sum of the transmission delays in the network flow. The analytical predictions agree with simulation results well, which show validity of the obtained analytical expressions.

This paper presents a steady-state analysis and design equations for the class-DE inverters at any duty ratio and high loaded quality factor, taking into account nonlinear MOSFET drain-source and gate-drain parasitic capacitances with any grading coefficients of the diode junctions. Additionally, maximum operating frequency, power output capability, and power-conversion efficiency of the class-DE inverter are also obtained. It is shown that the maximum operating frequency is the highest when the switch-on duty ratio is 0.25. From the obtained results, it can be stated that the switch-on duty ratio of the class-DE inverter should be specified in the range of 0.25 ≤ D < 0.5.
