エレクトロクロミズム (EC) とは，電気化学的な酸化還元反応により可逆な色変化を起こす現象であり，表示デバイスや調光デバイスへ展開されている．低分子量の有機EC分子を用いた素子は，EC分子を電極上に固定化し分子の拡散を抑制することで，発消色特性を向上させることができる．本研究では，還元によってマゼンタ発色を示すテレフタル酸エステル (TP) 誘導体を厚さ約0.3，3.3μmのシロキサン膜に修飾した電極を作用極に用い，対極に酸化ニッケル膜を用いてEC素子を構築した．本EC素子は－2.5Vの電圧印加で透明状態からマゼンタへと可逆に色変化した．EC分子の拡散を抑制したことによって，シロキサン膜固定系素子の消色応答性は溶液系素子の4分の1程度に減少し，メモリー性は3倍程度に増加した．

The EC device exhibited reversible multicolor change of primary colors - transparent, magenta, cyan, yellow, black (CMYK) and silver mirror - in a single cell by using electrochemical method which controlled the morphology of silver deposit. In this paper, we particularly analyzed the coloration mechanism in detail.

Reflective-emissive dual-mode display device can be achieved by combining both EC and ECL mechanism, in this study, we introduced TiO2 nanoparticles into the ECL device in order to improve AC-driven ECL properties.

This chapter describes the mechanisms of both emission and coloration control in electrochemical systems as well as their photophysical properties (e.g., response time, durability) and their applications. The first section provides a short overview on emission and coloration control upon various kinds of external stimuli. Then, we review the control of both emission and coloration processes based on electrochemical systems in our work.

In this paper, we designed novel organic electrochromic device based on bispyridinepyrrole derivatives and phenothiazine molecule. The EC properties of the devices were analyzed and discussed for the possibility to multi-color representation.

© 2016 Chinese Laser Press. Multifunctional electroswitching of both emission and coloration were demonstrated by using fluoran derivatives in an electrolytic solution. The mechanism for this electroswitching was attributed to the reversible electrochemically induced closing and opening of the lactone ring in the fluoran molecule.

The novel EC device enabled reversible color change between transparent, red and blue color in a single cell by using voltage step method which controlled the size of deposited Ag nanoparticles.

Electrochemiluminescence (ECL) is an emission phenomenon from electrochemically generated excited state of redox active material. In this study, we introduced TiO2 nanoparticle in Ruthenium(II) complex-based ECL electrolyte in order to improve ECL properties of AC-operated ECL device. As a result. the ECL intensity and long term stability of the device were improved by adding TiO2 nanoparticle in ECL solution.

A dual-mode display device which can operate in both emissive and reflective modes, having advantages of both modes, is expected as a next generation display. In this study, electrochemical switching systems, which enable simultaneous control of both emission and coloration, were investigated in order to create the novel displaying materials.

The EC device can show three primary colors of cyan, magenta, and yellow (CMY). To investigate the detailed optical property, the electrodeposition behavior of Ag nanoparticles and its coloration mechanisms of the device were analyzed in detail.

We have constructed Ag deposition-based electrochromic (EC) device which showed reversible changes of optical states between clear transparent and silver-mirror by driving procedure. In this research, we evaluated the effects of silver halide complexes on the coloration properties of the EC device by changing halide anion species.

We measured the electrode potential of anode and cathode during actually-driving of electrochromic cell to reveal the load of the material receiving from the electrode. From the result, it became obvious that the electrode potentials of the anode and the cathode were automatically regulated to facilitate both electrode reaction.

These displaying media are usually enabling single coloration and no visibility in dark place. We combined RGB thermochromic materials with luminescent materials to construct multi-color novel dual mode displaying media which showed high visibility in both bright and dark places.
